Ruger Mark3 question

hi guys... i've read and watch some youtube vids about the sling shot mods and it seems like all you need to replace is the hammer bushing.

i know tandemkross sells one for $10+ shipping

i found this one for $2.50.

question is.. will this work the same?

i trying to save some here and there to put towards the VQ accurizing kit and target grip.

The Tandemkross bushing has extended ridge built in to replace the thickness lost if you take out the magazine disconnect. The $2.50 part you link to is a stock bushing. You can muck around with washer(s) but the finished product may not be a smooth surface which will affect the trigger pull.

Skip a trip or two to Starbucks and just buy the Tandemkross parts.

I just did the black LCI replacement on my MKIII.
Tandemkross fit and finish look good.

Now need some quiet time to install the TK bushing.

Yours is a rare MKIII, only give her the best and she will do her job.

thanks! is the LCI from TK a flush finish? also the TK bushing is the one i'm looking for as well to do the slingshot mod?

The LCI replacement fits with very little gap.
I think there is less gap than with the original LCI
The exterior edge is flat rather than rounded like the barrel, but hard to notice unless OCD.
The black is not quite as shiny as the finish, but that won't matter for your stainless.

(I have to look up the slingshot mods. to make sure we are at the same place. I just got my MKIII 6" tapered barrel a couple months ago.)

Anything that makes that easier is worth it.

There are aftermarket parts that replace the mainspring assy. with an easier takedown, but I will wait a bit on those.

Here is the TK LCI delete in my 22/45 MK III showing the fit (at least in my gun). Yes, it is flush/smooth with the barrel:


I also installed the TK Steel Hammer Bushing to eliminate the magazine disconnect, but I still have to use the bolt stop lever to release the bolt (can't slingshot). Looks like TK sells the Kane Wolf parts to slingshot a 22/45 MK III, but they don't show this part kit specifically under the standard MK III page (so just works for 22/45 models???)

OP, I'm assuming this is about a 22/45 Mk III, since the steel MKIII already slingshots. The hammer bushing has nothing to do with the slingshot mod. The reason for the hammer bushing is to remove the magazine disconnect, which will allow you mags to drop free and also improve the feel of the trigger a bit. All you need to do for a slingshot mod is remove the spring and detent ball from the bolt stop lever. That will allow the bolt stop to drop by gravity when you pull back the bolt. The reason for aftermarket slingshot mod parts is that those add a positive downward push to the bolt stop for a more reliable release. The hammer bushing you want to remove the mag disconnect is a MK II part, not a MkIII, because you're in effect trying to turn your pistol into a MkII. Spend the $10 and get the Tandemkross. I haven't done the slingshot mod, but you can take the spring and ball out and see how reliably that works before you invest in an aftermarket slingshot mod kit.
