10/22 scope recommendation

Hey guys,

Yesterday I dros an 10/22 takedown and I'm in the market for a scope.

My main purpose would be target shooting/plinking.

My budget is around $200 with mount.

What are some recommended scope for the 10/22 platform?

I have a Nikon rimfire 4x on my takedown and I can write my name with it at 50 yards. Barely fits in the bag with it but it does fit. I believe I paid $75 for it from Dick's Sporting Goods.

Others have made some great recommendations for a regular 10/22, but not many scopes are short enough to be left mounted when stored inside the case. The only really good ones that I know of are just over your budget. Leupold's VX-1 2-7x28 or FX-1 4x28 rimfire scopes.

You can save a few dollars on the rings and put the money into quality optics. Leupold Rifleman rings should work fine with the base included with the rifle, or upgrade the base to a Leupold.

A dissenter here... If you are shooting inside 100 yards, put a set of Tech-Sights on it. Ruger has always put marginal sights on the 10/22. Upgraded mine to the Tech-Sights as a Appleseed Liberty Training rifle made it a really accurate shooter. I have left it unscoped since. Ton of fun to shoot, and very accurate.

If you have to have a scope, I am a fan of Nikon and Leupold. I use Nikon cameras/lenses and microscopes; they make nice glass.

I agree. I have the Leupold 2-7x28 VX-1 and it is a gem for this setup!

I put a leap vari x Iii on mine, it's a case hog but I like the clarity. I had it left over from another project that got a better scope. I certainly didn't buy it to put on a rimfire, but I like it.

Had a VX-1 2-7 on mine. Dumped the rifle and kept the scope. It definitely fit in the case with the scope mounted.

As others have mentioned in above posts. Nikon Prostaff Rimfire models are best value for the quality of the optics. IMHO....c good

I just picked up a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 for mine for $100. Came with butler creek scope caps pre installed. Good clarity and is great for my .22lr. It's a discontinued model so you may find it cheaper at some places. But it works great on my rifle.
