2 new (to me) Rimfire rifles

In the last week I PPT'd 2 Savage Model 93's. One in .17HMR (my second one) and one in .22 magnum. Both came with extra mags which I'm thankful for since they are interchangeable between calibers. Now to my question...

The seller of the .22 Mag rifle brought a full ammo can worth of assorted .22 mag ammo. Some are partial boxes. He said to make him a fair offer. What price per round is reasonable on a bulk purchase of .22 mag? I'm new to .22 mag and am ignorant on pricing/availability but want to be fair.

Funny...I did the same thing recently, and am now selling the 22WMR version, with about 800 rounds of ammo. I think I priced it at 12 bucks per box, since I see it for 14+, plus shipping, online.

There is, but I wouldn't feel right about that. $5.38 a box just doesn't seem right lol.

I would buy new. You have a better chance at a consistent condition. You have no idea how that other stuff may have been stored. Sure, no big deal, but that is me with ammo in my rifles.

I usually use ammo seek dot com to price ammo. Then reduce slightly for private party sales.

Depends on the brand of the ammo. Hornady or CCI I would pay $12-$14 per 50, if Winchester Dynapoints or other off brand $8-$10 per 50.

Edit: On second thought I wouldn't buy the Dynapoints, horrible ammo.

I can't believe how much .22 mag and .17HMR are per round, That is center-fire money. Certainly a turn off for me. I use wikiarms as a guide to ammo pricing.

This. The ammo is not new, storage conditions are unknown. It is not worth what new stock is worth. Offer what he paid. That is fair.
