    Local 22lr matches

Good morning! Came across some 22lr (rifle)shooting match videos on youtube this morning. Looks like a blast! Can anyone point me in the direction of clubs that hold these regularly, say within 2 hours any direction from Stockton.
And for any of you who attend these are their shooters being competitive with out of box "working mans price" rifles? Savage, marlin...etc. one video I watched was a group from Utah and these cats had some serious coin in their guns. Cz's with nightforce optics etc....

NVSA in Gridley on the 4th Sunday of every month. It's rifle and pistol, best to have at least 5 mags. Any mag fed rifle will be fine, 10/22's are the most common.

Also a Steel match at Sac Valley that can be shot with 22 pistols or rifles.

Is that the ARA Rimfire match the 4th Saturday of each month?

No steel challenge, but they do have ARA matches out there too. Not sure of the schedule. Workin' man's rifles won't be competitive in any form.

Affirmative. ARA is serious bench rest with custom rigs and tuned barrels... usually fired by competitors who've gone slightly insane in their quest for accuracy.

Thanks, I was looking for 22lr steel and it sounds like the Steel Challenge is what I would be looking for.

The NVSA Rimfire match is essentially the same thing but may have up to 7 plates instead of 5. They are set up in any configuration the stage designer wants. I'm sure you would be allowed to shoot the entire match with just a rifle or a Pistol if you don't have one or the other. Most likely someone will offer up one of theirs for you to borrow. It's pretty laid back there with a very small crowd and would be a great place for your first match.
