Savage Mark II TR

I put a SWFA SS 16x42 on my Savage Mark II TR, and took it out to the range on Sunday. To my dismay, I couldn't zero the rifle because I ran out of vertical adjustment. Does anyone know if the built in scope mounts have correction? After I got back I started to think maybe the two mounts are switched. ~Andrew

I have many times shimmed scope rings to get on paper, try putting the scope back to center points and shim it to get on paper. The rings on my savage are both the same.

How about a picture if the mounting hardware... Does the rings fit the base correctly?

What distance are you trying to zero at?

1st make sure the scope is functioning correctly... Do a simple tracking test to make sure its working.

Mount it to something make sure it doesn't move.

Use the reticle to mark out some paper in a MIL increments at whatever distance you want, start dialing though the range to make sure its tracking in both directions with correct spacing.

If the scope checks out, move on to the mounting system...

The SWFA is a good scope, and has lots of elevation available. You should not have these types of issues.

Adjust your scope to Mechanical Zero and then bore sight it and zero with Burris Signature Z rings with the inserts...lastly use the turret adjustments. On my Savage FVSR, I had to use the following inserts: +/- .020" inserts for the front ring mount and I think I used +/- .005" for the rear ring

A little hard to see, but right now I have b-squared sport rings on it. I purchased the picatinny rail from midwayusa, thank you for that tip! I figure I will stick with what works and I have a lot of extra picatinny rings I can try. It's hard to see in the picture, but the weaver rings don't seem to sit completely flat, and I've try to re-seat them already. I'll post an update when the new rings arrive.
