    Fliers

So I got this old colt peacemaker in 22. Can't seem to shake the fliers. I will be hitting soda cans then poof out of nowhere I am missing by a foot or two. The back to normal. Like the best I get is 4 out of six are consistent then two are off the map. Tried subsonic and hyper ammo. No difference.
Any ideas? Thinking maybe the crown? Chamber crud?

    Thanks.

Could be a timing issue. Number the outside of each chamber with a lead pencil, or other temporary marker, shoot and see if the same cylinders are the issue every time. If so, the cylinder ratchet might be worn, the cylinder stop cuts might be worn, the chamber themselves could be worn, etc. A range rod could immediately identify a timing issue.

What is a range rod and how is it used?

Just sent it to will o hara. He said the same thing as checking with a range rod...

              Great smith. Nice guy too.

Is that Will's in Corona? He is a real nice guy and a very competent smith. He spends most of his time building and repairing race guns for the IDPA crowd.

Yeah that's him. He has worked on a few guns for me now. I sold my 1911s last year but if I got something that breaks I call him first.

Glad to see he's thriving, been a few years since I had anything done by him.
