Ruger American Rimfire Mag Problem - Clear won't fit

I recently purchased a Ruger American Rimfire and have been impressed with the little plinker. This joins my safe with two other 10/22s.

Over the years I have collected numerous clear 10/22 rotary mags and found them to operate very well.

The issue is, when I attempt to use the clear mags in the American Rimfire, I am experiencing fit issues. They are simply too wide! The original black rotary mags that came with the American Rimfire work fine in both the AR & the 10/22 but not the other way around.

Did Ruger screw the pooch on this? Is there a solution provided by Ruger? Do new clear mags have a different size to allow them to fit?

Would love to have a collection of mags that can work across rifles.

I have not heard of that particular issue. I have the same rifle but I only use the regular black rotary ones...
        The rifle works flawlessly.

It is a common and well known issue with the clear mags, even in 10-22's. Go over to Rim Fire Central and ask that question. You will see. Easy fix is to simply widen the mag well on the sides, because the clears are wider in the "hips". I have had to do that to most of my 11 10-22's. When they drop free, you are there.

This is a some what common problem over at Rimfirecentral.com. As stated above, you can check the bottom of the mag well and do a little sanding.
I got tired of screwing with it and put the clear mag end plate on the standard black mag housing. Still can see how may rounds are in the mag and it falls right out of the RAR. I used the black end plates on the clear mag housing. Those I use for my 10/22. Since getting the bolt action RAR, my 10/22 sees little action any more. I like the bolt better. Who Knew??
