    10/22 Tech Sights

    First post in ages.

Just ordered a 10/22 Takedown from my LGS. I always hear that everyone should throw on tech sights on their 10/22s.

Anything you guys recommend? What specific ones should I get?

    Thanks in advance!

I have the simpler TSR100 on my 10/22. Love it. I am able to reliable hit 3" metal plates at 100 meters. The limitation is my eyesight. Larger targets at longer distances are definitely doable. I love the challenge of using iron sights vs. a scope.

There's no wrong answer, they're all good.

I went with the rail - mounted version, and I love them.

Have em on my Marlins. All I can say is they are nice sights and work great.

I did the TSR 100s, they're perfect for Appleseed. I like my 10/22 as a field gun, and the flip down aperture for quick sighting at longer distances was appealing to me.

I have, however, heard of issues with tech sighted takedown models holding zero, because your two sights are now on two separate pieces.

I actually got the nodak peep sights with rail:

The nodak sights themselves are not too bad. I don't know how they compare to the ones from techsights as I never tried the latter. It's windage adjustment window is a little constrained in my opinion, but you do have a decent amount of adjustment. The rail was very useful as I can put my optic on there if I feel the need to use that instead of the irons.

I have the 10/22 takedown with tech sight's and it's been holding zero.

I installed the TSR-100 and it completely changed the shootability of my 10/22. I've also heared that the flip down aperture feature was much better than the TSR-200's adjustable elevation version...

I've had the rail version on my takedown for about two months. 7 times at least to the range. Traveling in its bag. No problems holding 0. There my second set. The other is on my DSP. Very happy.

                    Interesting thanks for the link!

It looks like you don't have to replace the front 10/22 sight?
Does this one fit over it or do you have to remove the factory front sight? I put Tech Sights on one of my 10/22's and although I like shooting it I didn't care for removing the original front sight.

I agree I put the TSR-200 on mine an wished I had put the TSR-100 with the simple flip down aperture. Next one will be the flipper!

You know, I don't even remember what my factory front sight looks like anymore and if it's compatible. I think the issue might be the height of the factory front sight -- it might just be too low, so I'd suggest getting their front sight (and a $10 sks sight adjustment tool from ebay/amazon). I installed their front sight, and after correct installation, it works great.

Thanks for the info, already have an SKS front sight tool. Looks like you also pop out the factory blade and slip this front sight over it then tighten with the set screws.

I did notice with my Tech Sights the rear sight windage is set right of center almost all the way to the right. I emailed Tech Sights about that and some other product questions, they've never responded.

I had a similar problem when installing the nodak setup. My rear sight windage was all the way to one side when I was zeroing it at the range. When I got home I closely inspected the setup again and I noticed I did not set up my front sight very well. The nodak also requires you to use some set screws on the front sight, but I did it when the front sight was slightly canted and not level. After fixing this issue, the rear sight windage was at a much more reasonable location near the middle (and thus that is why I wrote "after correct installation" in my previous post hehe).

It sounds like the tech sights might be very similar in set up, so I suggest looking at how level your front sights are.

The Tech Sights front sight was a VERY loose fit in my front dovetail. I would imaging either the front could be off sideways a bit or canted.

After getting tired of looking at daylight under & around the sight I got everything squared up & went redneck on it. Filled those gaps with JB Weld!

The sights themselves are GTG. I don't mind the JB Weld because I have no intention of going back.
