    Trying to ID my Rifle

My father and I bought this rifle together YEARS ago and he's since passed away. I no longer shoot it and have been considering selling it but have no idea what it is (I believe it MIGHT be some type of Marlin but hence no way to value!). Was wondering if anyone could help me ID the rifle - and give me an idea if the bull barrel, etc were add-ons or if it came that way. The thing is a bloody tack driver but I have to cull the herd a bit and its time to let a few go

    Thanks for the help!

It looks like a Savage Stevens Favorite. I don't know about the accessories but I've always liked look of those little rifles.

Could be an older model before Savage bought them (it looks like it only has 3 screws on the receiver). Stock and barrel don't look original.

Its a 4 screw - if it helps at all, the serial is 30208. I cant find a look up for these things.

Looks like a German Coat of Arms / Federal Eagle / Bundesadler on the stock - not sure if that is a clue or what's up with it. Is it 22LR ?

It does look like a tricked out Stevens

Wow - yep that's the German Coat of Arms on the stock. And yes it's .22lr

I feel like we're piecing this together one post at a time

Aside from the Barrel and stock the trigger has been worked on too - it's crisp and the pull can be measured in ounces.

I have the original with octagon barrel. That is a stevens falling block.

Have you pulled the forearm to see if there's any markings under the wood?
Stevens made a variety of factory target rifles built on the 44 and 44 1/2 actions, that were works of art.
In the heyday of small bore competition, many of the Stevens, Remington, Martini, and Winchester single shot actions, were built into tack drivers. That's what you have. The last few years has seen a renewed interest in the sport.
My BIL owns the American Shooting Center in Houston,TX. He recently dedicated one part of the rifle range to just rimfire competition. He was telling me how surprised he was at how many of these dusted off vintage customs are showing up, and giving the heavily customized 10/22 shooters a run for their money.

Personally, if this was part of my Father's history with me, I would not let it go.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear.
