Help me decide on some 22 ammo

Over the past few months I've gone out and bought a bunch of 22 ammo. Different brands. Please help me decide on what to keep and what to look out for. I honesty doubt I could tell the difference on brands. But tell me from my pic what ammo I should not even bother with and what's the stuff to continue buying. I want to make sure I don't waste my time with ammo that's TOOO dirty or isn't gonna feed right. Mostly want ammo for plinking and the occasional friendly competition amongst family and friends nothing serious.

9,625 rounds I'd say is enough!!

9,625 rounds of 22 I'd say is enough to hold me up for a while.

I prefer CCI minimags but they are a bit more expensive.

I do not like Remington Golden Bullets as they are dirty (but cheap).

        What gun are you shooting?
Should try them all to see what your gun likes.
A few .22s do not like High Velocity rounds so check your owners manual to see if there is a recommendation.

        Good luck.

Kinda seems like you just want to brag about your stash...

but if I'm wrong, shoot a bit of each kind though your gun/guns, and stick with what cycles reliably and is accurate.

I bought a 10/22 for me and gave one to my pops. But never really shot 22. Mostly shoot 38super and 45 1911's actually. So completely new to 22's. Thanks for the advice and help Gary Huffman. I did read that the Remington stuff is super dirty and seems like super cheap price wise that's y I think I've stayed away from it. Apart from the fact that no one really carries that stuff anywhere locally.

Those all seem like good brands and rounds. I prefer CPHP over LRN. That is just my preference.

Keep it all and keep buying. Especially the CCI. But all of it looks to be pretty decent stuff.

Now, tell me more about the box/case that it's all sitting on. Looks to be a treble clef symbol under all that goodness!

God for you. Alot of ammo is a good thing.

From your stash,if you were to part with any, I would dispose of the Winchester Wildcat and M22 crap.

CCI is really good stuff, and what I prefer. My local Walmart has been getting CCI alot lately, Had it about 6 out of the last 10 days. Federal is my second choice..

But really if you do not need money, keep it all..It is always good trading stock, I actually traded some towards a Nissan 4x4 Pickup last weekend, e came out good.

Thanks everyone I guess I will do that. I'll just take a sample of all the ammo I have and shot it all and see if any of it gives me problem. I really doubt I'll be able to tell the difference but I'll see

10/22 is pretty forgiving, but for the future avoid buying subsonic or quiet rounds, they may not cycle.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no in a different thread.

Mr. Rabbit says get a revolver or bolt action, I agree.
I shoot the lesser rounds out of my Single Ten, it is easy to clean.

Good luck and give us a range report if you can.

First, keep it all. You never know when this shortage will end or get worse.
CCI is the best, if and when you can find it.

Gander Mountain had Winchester M22 800rd bricks for $49 last night and free shipping. Limit was 1. Get this: Site took forever to process each step of the order ~3-4mins. Left the final processing step and returned 15 mins later to an error page (oh fak!). BUT my phone was blinking "ORDER PROCESSED"....TWICE! Two separate order numbers WOOO. Hopefully I get two shipping notices. I know it's not much in the scheme of things but it's better than paying fifteen cents a round at a certain oaken range.

GM sold out of M22 when I checked this morning.

                            Federal

Two weeks ago I shot some Federal Auto match in a Remington 511.

At 50 yards it produced a fairly decent group. Almost as good as CCI and better than Vipers.

So today in a Ruger MK1 I loaded up seven magazines figuring that the Federal is good .22.

I had shots that felt normal and some that felt light and several failures to eject.

One failure to fire in the 63 rounds. For something named auto match this was disappointing.

CCI's and Blazers are so consistent shot to shot that I prefer to shoot them over any other brand.

I'll have to shoot the Federal in something else besides the semi-autos.

Nothing there I would classify as junk. It all boils down to what your guns like best. Only way to find out for 100% certain is to head for the range. Or just shoot Rugers. They eat anything.

Cue the Golden Bullet haters. They are almost as vocal & vehement as the Glock fanboiz. We who like them are a bit quieter so people will leave them behind for us.

Don't confuse the Golden Bullet with Thunderbolt AKA Thunderdud AKA Thundercrap. Almost universally reviled. No coincidence that if you find anything available it's probably the Thunderbolts.
