Up until today I would say go for it. Up until today I loved it. Up until today, it was probably the best bang for the buck of any gun I own, very accurate and eats anything I feed it. Up until today. I stared having light strikes, failure to fire, then I noticed about ever 7th or 8th round was coming into battery with a gouge in it, causing a failure to feed. I just broke it down to give it a thorough cleaning and inspection, put it back together and it will not dry fire. All I get is a 1/2 hearted "click" and anemic trigger snap.
Is this one of the issues people are having? Also, someone here mentioned a "life time warranty". True? Mine only says 1 year. With that said, and if the warranty IS only 1 year, I'm not sure it would be cost effective to fix it. Any thoughts?

Cannot stand the mag release on em. My uncle's had nothing but issues brand new when I borrowed it to see what was causing issues. Even if you kept your fingers away from the release the mag would drop. He sold it lol. Many others live theirs tho, I'd recommend the rugers or buck mark of course.

Is it your first 22lr handgun? If so you'll quickly want something prettier and more mainstream. Cheapest I'd go would be a P22 or the 1911 clones in 22lr.

Quick update on my S&W 22A issues. Yes, the warranty is indeed life-time. Not bad for a sub-$200 gun!
I sent it back and received a nicely repaired and up dated gun. No problems thus far and still a very accurate and fun shooting pistol.

            Pro:
            - If you buy SW22A1 then they fixed all the bug.
            - Picatinny rail build-in
            - Life time guaranty
            - Lighter than Buckmark Contour (with similar configuration of picatinny rail buid-in)
            - I used this gun for one hand shooting practice.
            - Price is very reasonable.

            Con:
            - Discontinued, was replaced by Victory model (Not on CA Roster)
            - Hard to find accessories
            - One model to choose, while you have more than ten difference Buckmark model to choose. (buckmark Lite model has the same weight)

            Accuracy:
            - Depend on how steady your shooting hand is.
            - Some people say they get less accuracy with pistol compare to Buckmark/Hi Standard because SW22A1 is lighter.
