Got this from my father in law. Made in 1954, .22LR, bluing looks really good, stock looks refinished with some kinda heavy poly and dark stain. Looking forward to trying to clean without actually tearing down the bolt, which looks like a PITA to deal with. Hopefully some #9, brushes and compressed air will do the trick. Since these don't have much value, I'll probably refinish the refinished stock and do a BLO finish on it. But I'd better clean and shoot it first...

there is just something about old firearms I just like...( the quality, the stories it could tell, the craftsmanship & design, just everything about them, even their weight.)

there is also something about free firearms I like....(they're free.)

so ...you really lucked out as far as I'm concerned.

Was refinished back when and that's a little dinged up, so will probably redo.

Bolt is complicated, with 6" firing pin. But some good online tutorials.



Bore is perfectly good. I've cleaned and lubed and checked feeding, extraction with some dummy rounds, so, off to the range at first opportunity.
