22lr lead corrosion

I have two bricks of Remington Thunderbolt 22lr that is old. The lead is corroded to the point they won't chamber. Is there any easy way to clean the lead so it would be usable? The brass is good, the only problem is with the lead.

Inspect a few rounds and see if the lead is actually pitted. If it is then accuracy will most likely be very poor. In addition older Thunderbolts have been known to cause leading in some barrels. Its the reason I won't ever shoot it again. Some do not have this issue but it happened in three of my firearms. Maybe it just isn't worth the time/effort to clean it up.

Personally I would drop in the misfire can at my local range.

I you decide to clean it, you might want to relube it before shooting it, to reduce leading. Either that, or you can spray it with some PAM right before shooting it.

I used a scotch pad to wipe down some older Remington ammo. That got it into the wheel gun.

Thunderbolt was/is crap ammo when new, why try to shoot it when it's even crappier?

The primer compound is a disk and it can break and then you will not have ignition... If the compound does not break then it can slip and angle sideways....

The priming compound is put in the shell as a liquid the shell is spinning which causes the priming compound to flow into the rim. It's then dried and finished. In center fire cartridges the priming compound is a disc which is sandwiched between the cup and anvil.
