    10/22 takedown won't go together

A few weeks ago I went shooting and put a few hundred rounds threw my ruger and had no issues. Now a month later I am trying to put it together and I can't. Has anyone else had issues with the barrel not wanting to go on and if so how did u fix it?

Make sure the bolt is locked back. Little cpl and loosen the tightening knob.

Never heard of that before. Where are you stuck? Is the problem with inserting the barrel into the receiver, or turning to lock it closed? Is the barrel tenon going into the receiver ok? Is the spring-loaded latch on the barrel stuck? If that won't retract as you turn the barrel on, it could hang up the process. Did the locking block on the front of the receiver (where a normal v-block is in the standard 10/22) come loose so it isn't aligned properly?

[QUOk it looks like the little black pin on the barrel that's suppose to help it line up is hitting the vblock now. Never did it before but now it is and won't let me push the barrel all the way in to twist it closed.

Might be that you have to loosen the takedown screw that tightens the barrel and receiver together.

It looks like the black piece on the barrel that slides under the vblock has metal spurs on it. Hope I can sand it down so it can finally turn to lock.

Are you locking the bolt back, inserting the barrel at a 90% angle to the receiver, and twisting down or away from you ?

First you need and old priest and a young priest and have them say the words "the power of Christ compels you! the power of Christ compels you!" over the rifle.
Watch the YouTube a couple of more times and keep trying until the "AH HA!" moment arrives.
                        You'll get it.

Below is a pick of the little black piece that is now hitting the v-block. Never did it before but now that the rifle has over 500 rounds in it its not lining up. Now it will only go together if i really force it which was never the case before. Would filing this piece down some hurt anything? I tried using oil i tried adjusting everyting and its still a pain to put together but will come apart easily.

If you alter that tab, the rifle will not lock up correctly. There are no obvious deformations or burrs on the tab. Is the locking block (V-block) loose or out of place?

As asked before, where are you stuck? Is the barrel going into the receiver to the correct depth before you turn it, or is it hanging up short of full insertion? Have you experimented with the amount of rotation of the barrel as you insert it?

It's really hard to diagnose without seeing how the parts are fitting as you install the barrel. If you post your location, maybe another member is nearby and can help you in person.

Vblock ok. Barrel won't go all the way in cause that tab hits vblock.
