I have been shooting my MP 15-22 at the steel challenge and really enjoying it, I know that AR triggers drop in to the MP 15-22 but I do not know which drop-in kit to get for this type of high speed shooting. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Drop-in AR trigger for Steel Challenge

I do know that some light aftermarket triggers don't have the hammer strike force to set off rimfire primers, I know for a fact that Timney triggers do not.
I would look into the Geissele SSA or SSA-E trigger. -
I use CMC drop-ins on both my AR-22's that I use for rimfire 2-gunLast edited by usmcchet9296; 04-05-2015, 2:03 PM.John P. Hermesmeyer

Wilson combat is the fastest shooting and easiest to feel that I've used, it breaks clean and you KNOW exactly when it resets and you can squeeze againRightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Any more suggestions for triggers? Trying to revive this thread.
The Gold and the Geissele seem to be about $270(!) The CMC seems to be about $170.
I've got a Taccom "ar" 22 :
Runs pretty good, except today at the range the trigger seemed sort of "heavy". The whole rifle is very light, it seemed like I'd be better with a lighter pull trigger, as long as it still sets off the 22 rounds. My current trigger is an ALG Defense.
How many pounds of pull are necessary for an ar22?
Is there a nice smooth trigger with a light pull (or adjustable?) that would work on a light rifle like mine? Any suggestions are appreciated.NRA life member CRPA life memberComment

Yeah, but, still.....I've got some ALG triggers w/ some JP 3.5 lb (I think) springs in some regular ar's; much heavier rifles, the weight of the trigger pull to me doesn't seem to be as much of an issue in those. But on the Taccom, seeing as how it's pretty light, the weight of the pull on the trigger seems "heavy"; seems more likely to move to rifle a bit when firing (?)
Still interested in some more trigger suggestions or more thoughts if anyone has any.NRA life member CRPA life memberComment

if its cost thats an issue you could always get a spring kits
match triggers aren't really needed for speed shooting
BTW where do you shoot the steel challengeLast edited by usmcchet9296; 04-22-2015, 4:56 PM.John P. Hermesmeyer

Aren't most rimfire steel challenge stages one shot per target? I don't recall double tapping on any target at the last couple of annual rimfire state steel matches.
IMHO you buy $200+ single stage AR trigger mostly for their short and crisp reset function. If there's no need to double tap continuously , trigger pull weight reduction alone is easily achieved using JP springs~$12.
Now if I am GM level...then maybe I can take advantage of using my S3G trigger in my M&P15-22.

Look at the Geissele G2S, it's $165. But the SSA-E and the National Match, DMR triggers are beautiful things.weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.

I have a CMC Flat Bow in my AR-22. Works just fine."If he won't walk, walk him...be nice"

Had the Geissele SD3G trigger in my M&P 15-22 and it shot nice, but a trigger that is over half the cost of the rifle was just too much for me. I ended up with a mil spec trigger from Spikes(the best mil spec I had around) and the JP reduced power springs. Love this set-up now.Private Party Reviews/Feedback: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1902728Comment
