    Nikon p series rimfire

Has anyone used the rimfire nikon p-22? I just jailed a ruger 10/22 today and I'm thinking about mounting that on it. The bdc reticle has me intrigued. It will be used for ground squirrel hunting mostly.

I have one 3x9x40 BDC. It's a nice scope for the money. My gun outshoots my scope though. For a stock 10/22 it's a good choice.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

You can of course spend almost a infinite amount on optics. But the Nikons are nice for the more than fair price in my opinion.

Should suit 99% of peoples use on a rimfire..

I have the same setup on a 10/22. Seems to be the perfect marriage.
Have been very pleased with the clarity of this scope.

Tough choice as there are so many options out there. All I shoot is for precision and have been around the block with a lot of different scopes. First is the budget, that sets what's available for your use. I prefer scope reticles that have a smallish dot for target shooting. I currently have:

            1. Weaver T-24 with 1/8 MOA dot, cost about $400
            2. Mueller Eraticator 8.5-25x50 with a 3/16 MOA dot cost $249 (my choice for 50-100yd)
            3. Nikon 3-9x40 EFR AO with a slightly larger dot than the Weaver. Cost $180

The Weaver is the clearest, best built scope but will be sold as I have problems picking up the dot on the reticle from time to time and causes my old eyes to strain when shooting. I will replace it with another Eraticator.

The Nikon is a great little scope, dot size is perfect for me, the scope is as clear as the Weaver, resettable turrets. Down side is that its adjustments are 1/2 MOA elevation/windage @ 100yds. So far this is not an issue as I use it only for 25yd and occasional 50yd target work. It would be a good scope for varmint/squirrel hunting as well.

I think the next step up from the ones I listed would be a Leupold but for my $$$ and shooting skills the Leupolds are a waste of money for me.

Unless a person is really, really into competition shooting I think Weaver, Nikon and Mueller are good choices for the $$$. If possible look thru the scope before buying.
Final note, this is only my opinion based on my experience with the listed scopes.

I have the p22 2-7 with fast action turrets. It's probably the best scope that I have on any of my 22 rifles. My other scope is vortex diamondback and vortex crossfire 2. I still have to stay that the nikon still have a better glass.

I am very happy with my Leupold VX-1 2x7 on my 10-22.

Leup vari x III here, happy with the scope, but shopping Stoney point or other options to make the turrets more functional.
