Baiting flies for bughole shooting question

So everyone loves shooting flies when they occassionally land in the targets.
So what is the best way to bait them? Smear some beef in the target or nail beef to a fencepost?
Ideally the bait isnt something easily shot off or explodes on impact.
Im not gonna try to smear dog poop on anything.
Thoughts?

I can't imagine WTF this 'shooting flies' is all about.

Is it that the flies all jump up and buzz about when target is struck?

Anyway, apparently there is a substance that attracts common flies like mad.

At some UC Berk frat the upperclass men made the pledges do their laundry while the upperclass men were out of town "scoring with MILFs".

The lower classmen responded by displaying XX large underwear with the upperclass men's names clearly marked in large bold letters and with massive and artistically done brown "bacon strips" on appropriate areas. In addition they smeared the Fly Attractant on the Bacon Strips so it looked like swarms of flies were feasting on the Dirty Laundry. This was hung up to all be very visible from a well traveled walk way next to the house. This in turn attracted crowds of giggling girls, all swearing they would NEVER date anyone from THAT frat but actually eager to hear all about the background of the prank etc.

I'm guessing the Attractant (for the flies, not the sorority girls) was a mating hormone or just lab grade "fly food" with odors geared to flies.

Ah, the benefits of higher education.

When the out of town upperclass men got wind of this they of course demanded they be taken down but their frat bros said that would be interfering in duly assigned pledge duties and was a no-can-do.

Later, there was the infamous "Didn't want to show their dirty laundry" statement in some lecture hall, but that's another story.

Any leftover meat type foods in a container under the target will draw them from my experience. Have used chicken liver before with good results as well.

Why would I ruin a perfectly good target of record by randomly landing shots outside my group? If you need targets that are small on paper shoot at an existing bullet hole. Once you master that you'll be too old to care about the next thing.

Flies are fun to shoot when you want a break.

We buy the cheap paper plates at Wal-Mart and staple them to our target boards. Anything from stale beer to last night's left overs placed around the target stand should do the trick.

A while back with my 22.250 at the 100 yard line.

i knew a guy (not me) who'd walk out to the 100yard target, staple a macdonalds ketchup packet over a white napkin on the board.

Walk back, first shot is a corner of the packet... as it dripped, flies came

I always thought it was a bit of a time waster, but he said he liked the moving target of it all

i'd rather shoot grouping on a target. color me silly.
