It is for .22 Long Rifle (LR) only so do not buy Shorts, Longs or Mags.
.22 Long rifle quiets probably will not cycle.

You may need higher velocity rounds.
Check your owners manual, often they give recommendations.

Try various rounds as you can find them, each gun can be picky at times.
I like CCI mini-mags for my .22s. They are a bit more expensive, but work more often than most.

    Good luck.

The manual calls out high velocity. I've put over 2000 rounds so far and it hasn't been picky on brands. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Just to clarify at the risk of being pedantic -- 22 LR comes in three main flavors: standard velocity, high velocity, and hyper velocity. The high velocity stuff is what you want. I recommend *good* 22LR high velocity ammo as (a) this is a pretty accurate gun and (b) you'll probably put tons of ammo through it and good ammo keeps it cleaner. Federal Auto-Match seems to work well and is readily available. If you use standard velocity ammo you can fiddle with the recoil spring plug for best performance -- see page 19 of the manual. I haven't tried hyper velocity ammo (e.g. CCI Stinger) but it's expensive, harder to find, and may cause extra wear and tear. I save my Stingers for special occasions, just like that bottle of V.O. Calvados brandy.

High velocity ammo. Specifically, look at specs of the ammo. You are looking for something with muzzle velocity of 1260 fps and muzzle energy of 127 ft-lb or better. Examples: CCI Mini-Mag, Remington Thunderbolt, Remington Yellow Jacket and Winchester Super-X. Anything weaker will not produce enough force to cycle the action reliably.

Actually there is another category, sub-sonic.

And OP, since you are in CA and stuck with the 10 round limit, you'll probably get bored with it pretty quick. Tactical 22s are way more fun with 30 round mags. Plink. Plink. Plink. x 10.

FS: Atlas Bipod, Custom G23 RMR slide, ETS mags, Jagerwerks, Recover G26/27, CZ Scorpion bits, etc.

It helps a little bit to use magazine couplers

Why the FAK do we have a 10 round limit on a .22 cal rifle? Seems silly to me.

Have one and it eats any 22lr I feed it . Fun little shooter , the only issue I've had is with bad ammo. Go through the site and you'll find a few posts on what 22 to stay away from.
