New magazines for an OLD Atchisson AR15 .22LR conversion?

Hi all. I have one of the ancient Atchisson .22LR conversions for AR15. It's got the original 16-round (I believe) magazine. I was wondering about replacement mags since I would not mind having an extra mag or two for this kit.

Does anyone happen to know if the newer Ceiner, CMMG, etc mags will work with this kit? Obviously I'd have to buy a 10-round version.

FWIW, I plan to use this conversion in an old M16a1 upper. Iron sights, 1:12 twist, etc. Just shooting for fun, not precision. (I can use my old Marlin 39a "Golden Boy" levergun if I want to shoot tighter groups.)

The rights to the Atchisson conversion were obtained by J.A. Ciener who marketed a new an improved conversion. I've heard the mags interchange, but can't say for sure.

Black Dog says their mags work with your conversion. http://blackdogmachinellc.net/x-form...-feed-lip.aspx

Thanks. I'd only seen pics of those online. From that it kinda looked like the mag-feed part is a little farther back than my magazine. But maybe it's an illusion... or it's not enough to matter.

I actually wrote to BlackDog. Haven't heard back from them yet. Hopefully they will say the same thing about their X-Form magazines.

Black Dog mags with the plastic feed lips work perfectly with my highly polished Ciener bolts. The ten rounders can get the plastic plug removed for 15 rounds in legal states.

The supplied steel mags they sent also work well.

Thanks Jimi. Thanks for the info. I also live in San Diego County though. That extra capacity is a no-go for me, correct?

BTW, I heard back from BlackDog. He confirms that their mags should work. I think I saw their mags hanging on the wall at Parallax Tactical a few weeks back. I'll head over there to see again which ones they carry. (After I confirm that my .22 conversion actually still functions. I had to replace the missing internal stop with a piece of wine cork. Might work okay now. )

BTW, did you mention that polishing because it helped in some way... or was in fact essential?
