    .17 WSM Revolver! Why not?

The ballistics are pretty impressive and I am enjoying the accuracy of my Savage B Mag, SS HB in this round. I think a revolver or semi-auto pistol would be a perfect addition. Any thoughts on this? c good

Smith and Wesson started making them about 5 years ago.

17HMR might be a better choice. The 17WSM's extra powder would probably just be extra muzzle flash and noise.

Probably be a lot of fun.

        .17 ammo is getting weird.

I've been looking at .17HM2 and can't find ANY at all.

Methinks you're mixing up WSM and HMR.

HM2 has been hard to find for a long time...it never took off, unfortunately, since I love it! I got rid of mine years ago, when I realized not enough manufacturers were bothering to make it.

17 HMR ammo is easy to find, 17 WSM you can get if you wait and look around.

17HM2 on the other hand is currently made in small batches by CCI for Hornady, and gets bought up fast when it hits the market. What I've heard is they(CCI) are focusing on more popular rimfire cartridges like .22 lr, .22 WMR and 17 HMR. Hornady /CCI have stated they have no plans of discontinuing the 17HM2.

The HM2 is not dead or going away, still lots of HM2 guns out there and lots of people who love the round. Once the market is flooded with the other rimfire calibers, HM2 will likely be available like it was a few years ago.

This.....17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire (HMR) is not the same as the newer round by Winchester called the .17 Winchester Super Magnum (WSM).

                You're absolutely correct. My mistake.

I do it often. (I mean mistakes, not being correct. THAT isn't nearly as frequent)

My B-Mag is awesome, I took it to the range and it literally shoots one hole groups, none of the split cases as reported on other threads. I'm glad I bought it. I've been able to get a supply of ammo for it so I look forward to getting out to do some varmint hunting.

I think 17HM2 is pretty much a dying round.
If you can id convert the gun to 17HMR.
