    Marlin XT-22VR Bolt Thoughts?

Looking into getting a Marlin XT-22VR(Heavy barrel). Will be used mostly for plinking, killing cans and target shooting. Checked online reviews (google) and this forum. Mostly positive. Anybody own one and thoughts about it.
The good? The bad? And all the rest. Thanks in advance.

I have a xt in 22wmr great little tac driver with a high powered scope. get on rimfirecentral.com and look up appachee triggers. He did my bolt and trigger work it's about $35 best money you will ever spend!
working on a thump hole stock for it at present. I like more weight then it comes.

I didn't know better and chose the regular XT over the VR. Vr's weight is significant over the regular XT. My XT has been reliable and a tack driver.

balmo, Good point, I shoot mainly off a bench. I love the stability and heft of a bull barrel, not to mention the looks. I might not like it so well if I had to carry it all day hunting.

          I can tell you with CCI Standard Velocity, it's a shooter. Here's a 10-shot group @ 25 yards:

I have four XT's and love them all! The VR stock is a bit better than the regular ones as it has a bigger/wider forearm on it like the Boyd's stocks come with.

I used to shoot bricks of 22s through my Marlin 795 but with the shortage of 22lrs, I bought the bolt action Marlin XT. Slow things down a bit, put a cheap Tasco 3-9x 50 scope on it from Walmart and tons of fun to shoot! Another plus, the 795 magazines fit the XT...
