    Help with Bushnell BDC recticle

Can anyone with Bushnell scope with BDC reticle educate me on how the BDC works? I have the Bushnell AR optics 4.5-18x scope and read the manual that came with it. But I'm still unclear on how it works.

I understand that (to use the BDC) the scope must be zero'ed in at 100 yards, and so the center represents 100 yards, first dot 200 yards, second dot 300 yards, etc. But at what magnification? The manual said for the 3-9x model, the magnification should be at 9x, but no word on 4.5-18x. I assumed that it's also at 9x for my model, but reading the "how to use the reticle" part confused me because it said "set the scope's magnification to its highest power". So what is it, then? 9x? or 18x? Thanks!

Set it to the maximum magnification for that particular model.

It's a Second Focal Plane scope so the BDC will be accurate only at the magnification you use to zero. Typically, you zero at max magnification since you're probably going to be at 18X when you need to use the BDC.
