    What is this thing?

Hopefully this is the right place to put this.

I've been toting this thing around for years. I'm fairly certain I got it in the Army but can't figure out what it goes to or what I used it for. I was in 2004-2008. Any help is appreciated.

That right there is some kind of lens set in a piece of hard, black plastic.

          Looks like an eyepiece.
Maybe for a scope of some kind.

            Or possibly binos.

After looking at some images on the webz, it might also be from a binocular microscope.

But why would binos need a magnifier? I thought it might be for pvs14s but it doesn't look like it would fit.

Is this lens used in a "photometry tool".
A tool to get your position from the stars.

Doubt it. Scouts were issued GPS in Iraq so we didn't use the stars much. I was hoping an armorer would jump on and say "That's a _______ idiot" but I guess i'm not that lucky. Oh well. I'll just file it next to my box of grid squares and exhaust samples.

Looks like the eyepiece for a borescope or other such tool.
