SKS Top Cover Mount

I searched but didnt see much on SKS optics and mounts.
I was thinking of a top cover mount since I dont want to put a new fore-end or any plastic/aluminum stock on my SKS. Also didnt want to do a scout mount.
Do these top cover replacements work well? I also wanted to put tech sights on but I guess a new top cover would preclude that?
Any suggestions for me?

I had one mounted on a Chinese SKS, it was ok but not great. All of them need some sort of fitting on the front prongs so have a dremel or file handy. Get the kind with side mounted screws, like this:

That will ensure a tighter fit and reduce (never completely eliminate) a wandering zero. Also, keep in mind that you will lose zero every time you remove that cover to clean it. Admittedly they don't need that much cleaning & if you do it right, it's only a small adjustment each time. In the end, I went back to the original configuration.

Just drill & tap, it's the proper way to mount a scope on SKS or SKS like rifles.
Top covers won't hold zero after repetitive use, mainly because of the screws that create tension on the receiver.
