    Eotech 512 issues , or not ?

i picked up a lnib 512 in trade and just got around to really take a look at it and noticed a few things i wanted to ask Eotech users ...

issue one is when i turn it on it seems really dim , have to click it up 3-5 to get a good sight, might be my bad eyes but from what i have read online the thing should get really bright and "bloom" on the highest setting and mine does not

issue two is i seem to lose the reticle on the left 1/3 on the window.... meaning if i just turn it on and move my head to have the reticle on the left side of the window it is even dimmer and i lose the sight unless its on full brightness and you can still see it dim.... almost looks like something inside is blocking the reflection on the left 1/3 of the window

i feel it is still useable but would like to send it in for repair but i am a bit afraid of the costs on a old second hand sight

i would post pics but dont have a good camera that would pick it up ....

just a lil info this is a legit Eotech with s/n and box made in feb/2009

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but does it have a brand new battery?

I heard that EOtech will rebuild the sight and it's fairly inexpensive, I think it was $75.

      yes new batteries

here is some crappy cell pics ...

you can see it has kinda like a straight edge where it dims about middle of the reticle

as you go back to center you can see the edge again

dim right in the middle of the "bad spot"

      reticle centered

It looks like the lens coating is damaged. Does it only fade out at the lower left corner? If so your best option will be to contact EOtech.

                Good deal.
They definitely aren't supposed to behave like that.
My 512 is about 8 years old now and is still kicking like a champ.

I've got an older 512 as well and it's running strong.

Sounds/looks like delamination. Get a support ticket and send it in. They will warranty as long as it is a real eotech. Turn around time should 1-3 weeks. Been through it.

Yes, delamination. I've run into it with EXPS series too. The newest production runs are supposed to have solved this.
