Springfield Armory M1A scope and mount ID

I have a Springfield Armory scope and mount that I took off a M1A I bought a while back. I know there were "generations", but I do not know how to differentiate between them so I do not know what I have.

How can I tell what generation my scope and mount are?

Scope is a 4x14x56, 30mm tube with internal bubble level and optimized reticule for .308/7.62.

That's a Gen 1. Later models added illuminated reticle and side parallax. I think the last version did away with the BDC reticle and just had a mil dot. I ran a scope exactly like yours on various rifles over the course of 10-12 years. BDC was actually pretty accurate out to 1000 yards using 175 grain FGMM. Glass quality was kind of "Meh..." at longer ranges, probably due to the lack of parallax/focus adjustment.

Mount is a gen 3. The 1st Gen mounts had a single thumb screw and did not attach to the clip guide. Not sure there were generations for the Springfield scopes, though they were all made in Japan until about the late 90's.

I think Gen 2 scopes had parallax adjustments and Gen 3 had lighted
reticles,nice but at two pounds were very heavy. Pete
