New Vortex StrikeEagle 1-6 Sub $400

I hear Vortex Optics is launching a new 1-6x24 scope called the StrikeEagle at SHOT show. It will have a new "AR-BDC" reticle designed with 3-gun type competitor shooting in mind (see photo below). It will weigh in around 17.6 oz and will MSRP at $429 which means it should be sub $400 when it hits the streets.

This is going to be a game changer for the entry level scope market! I can't wait.

Something about that scope body and magnification ring scream PA Gen II 1-6. Dare I say they are using the same blueprint, or coming from the same factory?

Day time illumination?

600yds max. So 55gr and 62gr only. Adding two more stadia lines for 75/77gr would be nice.

Can't help but say it, need to say Thank you to Bushnell for bringing the PCL out at $250. It made companies chase the price points even more. They need to pack more features in lower pricing to be competitive now= buyers win.

The real question is: what is the exit pupil size?

Most scopes have such a small exit pupil at highest magnification that your eye has to be directly behind it, making that magnification useful for bench only. The theoretical exit pupil of this scope is 24mm / 6power = 4mm, and the actual is only going to be smaller. Your pupil size is about 4mm in bright sun and only gets bigger as it gets darker. I'm guessing 6x is going to be difficult to use or has a dark image.

Sounds like a great scope at a great price.With vortex the warranty will be good and it will hold zero-cant wait to try one-there goes 400 dollars.

That reticle is plain out silly! One of the worse I have seen! Why not just license the ACSS reticle from PA and get it over with.
