Which Mount for this Scope Placement?

Got my Kahles K16i in the other day and mocked it up on my rifle to try to figure out which Bobro mount to get based on eye relief. I think it's pretty good with the front of the turret housing lined up with the front of the receiver. And that's how many other people seem to do it as well with this scope. My question is, I think it will work with any of the Bobro mounts—Standard, Slightly Forward, and Extended. I spent like 10 minutes in Photoshop to put this together and I think I got the scale right for everything. Based on this, is there any reason I'd want to go with one over the others?

How come on the last photo... or the extended mount, you have the connection point so far back?

The point of that extended mount is to move it forward a bit because of long eye relief.

As for which works for you, it depends on whether you shoot with nose to charging handle, or have your head further back.

If you do nose to charging handle, then def the extended. If you shoot with your head positioned farther back in the stock then the standard will probably be fine.

lol maybe I wasn't clear enough.

I have the scope. I have the rifle. I do not have the mount.

I took purchase of the rifle and held the scope up on the rail to see where the scope needs to be mounted for proper eye relief. Having done that, the front of the turret housing on the scope is flush with the front of the receiver. Am I correct in saying that scope placement and eye relief dictate where you mount the scope and not the other way around? You buy the right mount to give you the eye relief you need. You don't buy any old mount and then let that dictate where you put the scope.

So... having done that, it appears that all three mounts will get the scope in the same position that I require. That's why I comped up this picture. If I mounted the extended mount forward, flush with the receiver like the other two, the scope would be too far forward.

The scope in the photo above is placed where I need it based on proper eye relief. The question is which mount to get since all three can get the scope in the same position.

Holding the scope in place on the rail, and then trying again with it mounted will often yield different results in terms of eye relief as you will be in a more natural shooting position with the scope mounted. Having one arm holding the scope in place can change your body and head position quite a bit.

I would go with the extended mount, as it gives you more flexibility in positioning the scope. One thing I noticed on your photoshop though, is that the large magnification ring on the scope may interfere with the rear end of the extended Bobro mount. You may end up having to use one of the other versions anyway.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. But without having a store in my area that has these mounts for me to actually try, it's the best I can do.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. I don't think it will interfere though. I believe I've seen some photos of people who have this scope in Bobro mounts and I don't think they've had problems. Andrew Bobro uses this same scope too actually. There are photos on Bobro's FB page. I will go take a look again and see if its the extended one.

EDIT: Yeah, I found photos of the scope mounted in the Extended version and it fits fine.
