Can anybody give a description of how to determine what height scope rings before one spends the money? Lets assume you have the scope in question, just not the mount yet. And you'd like to get it set up for off-hand, sitting and prone.
On an AR - with a hogue stock, the Aero Precision mount is a hair too tall, I have to sacrifice a good cheek weld. Maybe I have a short face?
Or is it better to build/pad up the stock so that you get a better weld? Taking the SoCal Skeet clinic with Coach Z they cut up some foam padding and duck-taped the stock so my eye was at the right height, but to be honest it looked a touch ghetto...
