    Kahles Reticle Comparison

I'm considering either the Kahles 1-5 or 1-6. They are available in a number of reticle designs. I was wondering what your thoughts are on them and in what situations one would be more desirable than another? I'm shooting an AR15, 16" barrel, chambered in 5.56. Shooting out to 25, 50, 100, and 200 yards. And I understand it's personal preference sometimes.

To me, the SM1 seems the most pleasing. I think the SM1 and SM2 have the same scale/subtensions? The G4B is confusing to me in terms of what it's for.

    SM1: http://www.kahles.at/fileadmin/kahle...6i_1-6_Sm1.pdf
    SM2: http://www.kahles.at/fileadmin/kahle...6i_1-6_Sm2.pdf
    G4B: http://www.kahles.at/fileadmin/kahle...1-5x24_G4B.pdf

The other scope I'm considering is the Steiner M5Xi 1-5. It's reticle can be found here: http://www.steiner-optics.com/sites/...eticle-556.png It looks like just a bullet drop calibrated for 5.56.

For what its worth, after running all the reticles I find that the SM1 is quicker for me. The ring around the dot I think pulls my eye to the center more quickly.

I guess EO Tech is on to something?

      Hah, yeah.

The SM1 stood out to me as well. But it's a tough call without being able to hold them in my hands.

How do all the other things compare between the Kahles and Steiner? Eye box, field of view, daytime illumination bright enough, turrets, etc.?
