    Good mid range 1-6X scope?

I kind of thought there would be a little more selection in the 1-6x variable market space. Seemed like that was the new preferred range over the 1-4 models of fixed 4x models.

What you guys recommend under 1K in the 1-6x models with day light visible rets right now? I was looking at Meopta but it is only 1-4x.

Its hard to find something aimpoint bright unless you go to a short-dot / DFP design. Most of those scopes will be well over your 1k budget.

I run the SWFA SS HD 1-6x, really nice optic with a good FFP reticle design. I picked this up as an upgrade to the Viper PST...

Your budget doesn't leave a lot of choices.

The PA 1-6x Gen 2 has good features, good glass and great pricing. Illum is ok but washes out so just run it without illum.

The Leupold VX6 1-6X is in your price range and has a bright firedot. I don't like their reticle though since the mils are spaced out way too much.

The Vortex Razor Gen II is a few hundred more but worth it for its clear glass, bright Illum and wide FOV for around $1400.

Also consider the Burris XTR II 1-5x. Although not 6x, the glass is really clear and the reticle is great with very bright illum for around $750.

The Razor Gen II is a great scope. You really have to handle it and look though one to appreciate the quality. The only reason I didn't recommend it is because its over the OPs budget.

At $1k, this is the best one you'll find.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have considered SWFA but it is a little pricier once you add in the mount and little heavier also. Is that daylight visible illumination on it?

Wait for this black Friday or xmass sales from SWFA... you can probably score one for a price which will leave you with enough money for a good mount.

Re: Illumination... its daylight visible, but it wont be anywhere as bright as a short-dot or DFP design which is basically a real RDS. It is however a fair amount brighter than my Vortex PST 1-4x and a few others that I have tried.

That said, I can get it to wash out depending on the backdrop on a bright sunny day which for me is usually a desert environment with no cloud cover.

Here are some pictures I took off google images: Should give you a better idea of what to expect.

Thanks for the pics. I like the ret design. How do you feel about the weight? It is a little on the heavy side which may speak to its overall better construction of course.

BSA 1-6x for $150 from Midway. It's a great value.

Here are the ones I'm looking at. Price range might go a little higher than what you're considering. But I'm in the same boat and I figured people would get pissed off if I started another 1-6 thread. There's a miss-maatch of specs here. But they're all 1-6 and they're all around the same price. But I can't really decide between these three if I go with a 1-6x. But I might go with a 2.5-10 or something like instead. I think if I could afford a good 1-8x I'd go that route. But they're all like two or three thousand.

SWFA SS HD 1-6x24mm Tactical: $1,000

                          Leupold VX6 1-6x24mm: $1,000

                          GRSC/Norden 1-6x24mm Combat Scope: $1,025
