    Scope for SPR?

I'm putting together an SPR-ish rifle. 18", rifle gassed, SPR profile barrel from Black Hole Weaponry, Aero Precision M4E1 upper with 15" Keymod handguard attached directly to the upper, FRS-15 stock, Geissele SSA-E trigger. Not sure what muzzle device yet.

I had a 2-8x32 M223 that I was going to use but I let a friend borrow it and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I might like something a little longer, but would like to keep weight reasonable. Budget maybe $500 at most.

    Suggestions?

    vortex PST
    SWFA super sniper

These are the only two I can recommend at that price.

$500 including mount? That would put you into Primary Arms price range. Their ACSS scopes seem well suited to an SPR, especially their 1-6X. The Leatherwood CMR would be worth looking into as well. I ran a CMR on my SPR for a while and really came to appreciate the versatility and light weight of a low power variable scope for this application. On the extreme low end of the budget, the BSA 1-6X24 Tactical scope sold through midway USA also works pretty well for an SPR and has some of the clearest glass I've seen on a budget priced scope.

I suppose I'm probably best off looking for something used. I managed to find the scope + mount that I just sold for less than half of retail, so there are deals to be had.

Someone has a Vortex PST 2.5-10x44 with QD PEPR for $525 in the for sale section here, I might go with something like that.

          I'd like something longer than a 1-6, I already have a 1-4 on a 14.5" gun and might replace it with a 1.5-6.

Also look at the Primary Arms 4-14x ACSS HUD. It's on the larger/higher power end of what an SPR rifle generally runs, but it fits right into that budget with a quality mount (ADM 30mm Recon 20 MOA).

That's what I'm running on my SPR rig at the moment. I like it a lot more than the Nikon's I've owned/played with.

If you buy used, just make sure to get something with a transferable warranty.

+1 on the Primary Arms 1-6 ACSS scope. Great price for a 1-6. The Gen2 is definitely worth it but hit or miss on availability as they sell out fast.

+1 on CMR. Sometimes deal prices are better or close to prices on used items.

+1 for the vortex. I have a 2.5-10 MRAD on my mk12 mod 0 clone and love it.

Leupold Mark AR Mod1 3x9 Firedot TMR. I liked mine on my SPRish build. Good glass for $450, mil/mil and the tmr dot reticle is nice for low light or shooting fast close targets.

At that price range, nothing will beat an SWFA 3-9x42mm... that just went on black friday sale for under your budget price.
