Our military marksmanship instructors teach us that sight alignment is important when utlizing the Trijicon TA31RCO-A4CP optic.

I fail to see how you can have sight alignment with an optic.

our instructors say that if you do not look through the optic dead on, you will get a black haze around your sight picture, which means your point of impact will change.

I don't see how that is the case since the TA31RCO-A4CP is parallax free for the ranges is covers.

please correct any ignorance on my end, or enlighten me.

Like you said if they're parallax free I don't see the problem. Maybe they just want it kept in your mind if you ever have to use you BUIS. Do they still teach to shoot with both eyes open with the ACOG? That's how I was taught in the Corps when I used my first one back in 95.

I don't think that the TA31s are parallax free. I've never run across an optic with magnification that is parallax free to infinity. Here is a test.......Look through the optic and slightly move your head up and down or left and right without moving the rifle. Does the crosshair move on paper? If so you have parallax.

All magnified optics are going to have some parallax.
