    Best mount?

I bought a PA 1x - 6x scope for my AR. It's a 30mm scope, what mount would you recommend?

    Wants:
    QD levers
    Good eye relief
Solid mount stays secure with minimal motion within the rings.

    Thanks!!!

    Best mount?

You should run a search before posting. Someone asks almost this exact same question about once a week. The answers are:

    1. http://www.maxicon.com/guns/optics/o...ece_mounts.htm

    2. Burris PEPR

Almost any 30mm AR one piece mount will work fine. There's not much recoil on an AR and the 1-6x scopes are light, so they won't apply significant torque to the mount. As long as it doesn't move, you should be fine with any major maker that's above airsoft quality.

            +1

Alot of guys crap all over UTG products, and rightfully so for the most part with a lot of their older products and low end stuff. Their LE grade QD mounts and rings however, are actually quite decent.

You're welcome! To be clear, I'm not personally recommending the PEPR; I have an ADM mount that I'm very happy with. But the PEPR is a popular answer to that question from members here, and the linked site calls it the best near-$100 option available. And I know for a fact that Burris makes a 30mm QD version.

Rings are not the best way to mount optics on a flat-top AR.

                I'm not worried about price...

I've seen on that "other forum" a lot of praise for the larue LT-104 mounts... High dollar but really worth it from what the reviews say. I'm still looking, not really wanting rings. I prefer a mount

If you're not worried about price, i'd first dump the PA and get a Vortex Razor 1-6 or perhaps a USO.

As for QD mounts... GDI is considered the best period. Then you have Bobro... then you have everything else.

I'm not a fan of Larue mounts... their rifles are amazing... mounts... eh.

I will be trading up soon, the PA is a temporary thing anyways!

Maybe make out a target at 300 yards? ROFL LMAO. I can do that with just my eyeballs and everyday corrective lenses.

Methinks thou dost exaggerate too much.

Also, PA is NOT "cheapest Chinese POS." Many grades of Chinese optics. PA sits pretty much at the top of that tier. It's not trijicon, S&B, Zeiss, etc...Yes, with a bad mirage, you might have trouble at 800-1,000 yards, but let's not be silly.

I've had the opportunity to look through plenty of high-dollar scopes. With glass (and most anything) you start to reach a point of diminishing returns, so that $3,000 scope is only buying you, say, 10-20% better performance than the $1,000 scope. If you absolutely want the "BEST" you will need to pay through the nose, yes. If you want "good enough to do the job" then you can pay significantly less.

It's sort of like calling a KIA a "cheap piece of Korean crap" because you drive a Mercedes for your morning commute. I'm no fan of KIA, but they are serviceable vehicles within their limitations.

In any case, OP, I really suggest the ADM mounts, best ratio of performance to cost. Just make sure when you mount the optic, that you push the mount as far towards the muzzle as it will go before you throw the lever, EVERY TIME YOU MOUNT IT, so that you will return to zero after you re-mount. The Bobro doesn't require this, but it's your call if you want to spend the money over a simple matter of installation technique.

I don't know what happened to Thorax's posts, but he makes a good point. It's a little silly to spend more on a mount than the scopes. For an AR-15 and 1-6x PA, the $50 basic AR scopes will do just fine. They don't move. The point of PA is to save money, so it doesn't make sense to get a $450 mount.

JMP, I agree. I am thinking down the line though, I will be upgrading the scope, so I would like to be able to use the same mount if possible.

I'd just get a basic $50 AR mount. They don't move around. Semi/FAs are intrinsically not high precision rifles. For me, an expensive "tactical" QD mount that costs $400 on an AR is usually not that necessary. Look at the cost of your upper receiver. For folks running things like Les Baer and GAP ARs that are higher end that have a little accuracy, they tend to not play musical chairs with their optics.
