    Burris PEPR mount

I'm using a Burris PEPR mount (30mm type) with a Mueller Speedshot 1-4x scope, and I'm having a little trouble securing the base screw properly. The manual for the PEPR says that 65lb-inch of torque is recommended for the base screw, however, when I used my "Wheeler Firearms Accurizing Torque Wrench" on it, I could never get enough purchase on the base screw to turn till my torque wrench "clicks".

The problem with the base screw on the PEPR mount is that while it lets you insert a flat head type driver to turn it, there's also a screw in the middle that protrudes out further as you tighten the base screw down. At certain point, the screw will push out your flat head driver and you'll no longer have enough purchase to torque in down further.

At the range today, I've noticed that the base screw came loose and threw the zero off a bit (about 1 inch to the right and up).

Is there perhaps, a hex nut type attachment for my wheeler torque wrench so that it can grab on to the outside of the base screw to torque down the base screw to the recommended 65lb-in strength?

    Thanks.

P.S.: I'm shooting it with a AR-15 using .223rem ammo, so not a lot of recoil but the base screw still came loose.

Easy peasy. Use the hex-to-1/8" drive adapter to attach a socket. Should be in the left-most 'bit well' of your Wheeler kit.
You may have to make a trip to Sears/HomeD/Lowes to get the right socket size in 1/8" drive or a 1/8"-to-3/8" drive adapter to use a 3/8" drive socket.
    Right tool(s) for the job.

Thanks, as it turned out, the Wheeler takes a 1/4" hex shank adapter so I went to Home Depot and got myself a Makita 9pc Impact Socket Set. Worked like a charmed.

Hopefully the base nut won't loosen again.

Oops 1/4" you're right. Good luck!
