I'd rather have a 2-7 or maybe a fixed power optic and a dot on a 45 degree mount.... stacking them on top of each other is silly.
I tend to agree with you in that I prefer the 45 mount, but there are a LOT of folks out there who like the top mount. It's a matter of training and preference. At the ranges that most people use a red dot, the cheek weld issue is of minor importance (if you need that much accuracy, why aren't you using the scope, anyway?).

Choi Li Fut, Shorinji Kenpo, Tang Soo Do, Shoto Kan, Muay Thai, Jeet Kun Do, the system doesn't matter much. It's more about your level of training and your mindset. The same is true when you start looking at carbines with twin optics like this. There are some minor differences between the optics choices that work better for people with differences in vision, prior training, and intended use. I like the 45 deg. solution myself, but there are good reasons that people use the top-mount.

Ill take a Muay Thai with 2 straws please.

The main advantage of a top mounted optic is a clean both eyes open FOV. On 45 the main vertical optic obstructs sight picture but allows you to find the dot faster because your cheek weld. Like sinborder said its matter of preference and training.
