    AR OPTIC 1-4x

    1) BURRIS TAC30 $300
    2) BURRIST MTAC $350
    3) BUSHNELL BTR1 $200

Which one would you choose if you factor money, reputation, and advantage/ disadvantage of each?

At a max price point of $350 and only those options...

I’d probably put my money on the Bushnell because I like the throwdown lever and the FFP reticle. It’s been a while since I look at it, but I wasn't that thrilled with the glass on it. It’s just me but I don’t like BDC reticles so I would opt for the BTR2 over the BTR1 but that’s all personal preference and depends on your shooting style.

I think the MTAC has better glass but its been a while since I look at one, I don't like the reticle as much and the turrets are OK, but they are capped which is appropriate for a BDC scope.

Almost all those scopes should be locally available, you should check them out yourself and go from there.

I recently picked up a Bushnell AR OPTICS 1-4x 24mm Throw Down PCL and mounted it in a QD PEPR. I got a nice deal on it through PSA. It seems to be a pretty nice scope, although a little heavier than I had expected for the whole assembly.

For the Bushnell option, isn't the BTR-1 just the reticle type? Which scope are you looking at?

I was looking into 1x prismatics, but these look interesting...

Are these all prismatic? Can you keep your irons with them?

I'm a fan of Burris and have a TAC30 and PEPR-QD on my AR (but it has a German #4 reticle). I really like it and can certainly recommend either Burris.

That's a decent price for the Bushnell. I would snatch that one up.

Take a look at the Vortex Viper PST 1x4, you may end up stepping up the $ a bit. Great glass & love the illuminated recticle.

I have one... Not worth the added cost over Bushnell PCL Throwdown or Burris M-tac (IMO)...

However I am a fan of Weaver Tactical 1-5x24... But it's quite a bit more than the others...

The PCL in the Amazon link earlier in the thread is the best bang for buck.

I haven't tried the Weaver, but I don't think I would go as far as saying the PST is not worth the additional cost as it depends on what you value in an optic.

The 1-4x PST on sale can be had for around $400, and I've seen them go cheaper at places like PSA.

Optically I think its a substantial upgrade from the PCL. Plus the turrets on that scope are absolutely fantastic... well worth the additional money if you are someone who prefers to dial correction vs hold over. I also like that the scope isn’t married to a particular cartridge or loading as its not using a BDC reticle. Allows me to move it around for different rifles/applications and maintain a ballistics table for whatever I use it on. Mine has seen time on a 10/22 and .243 Win hunting rifle along with my AR which I originally purchased it for.

That still doesn't negate the fact the PCL is a really good overall value if saving money is the name of the game. You get a lot of scope for the money, and with some unique features in that price bracket, but the optics and turrets leave a lot to be desired.

^^^ I'm not saying PST is a bad scope... But I do feel its not worth the added cost over the others...

I have the four I mentioned

I have a couple of these and they were built around the AR platform. I have mine on a cantilevered PEPR mount.

The MTAC has much better glass compared to the Bushnell. I've used both of them for a while and the difference is pretty obvious. The MTAC also has a big eyebox so it's a lot easier acquire your target while with the Bushnell I had to adjust the stock length, move my head around in order to find the box.
