I understand it's Latin for "coyote" but has anyone ever heard of these scopes? Are they airsoft, cheap Chinese, eastern Europe - a $59.00 scope selling for $250.00 because no one knows what it is? I don't expect a whole lot for $250.00 but for 100 yd plinking with a 22 upper, might be fun. Body diameter is listed at "28mm" - what does this translate to for ring size? I know 24,26, 30 and above but never heard of 28.

Canis Latran Scope?

Where are you seeing that the body diameter is 28mm? That's the objective lens diameter. The body diameter is listed as 1.38 inches, which comes up to 35.052mm.
"Canis Latran" appears to make airsoft junk. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/321766
And something tells me that "Guangzhou Canis Latrans Sports Limited"
means that it's chinese junk.
If you want something that isn't ****, but at a low price(meaning a good value, instead of just being trash), why not go with primary arms, considering they're fairly well known? -
Thanks for the info. As much as I could tell from the photo the tube seemed to me to be straight from the adjustment tower forward. It must actually flare a bit.
The "Guangzhou" is hint, yes ... The $24.90 shipping made me suspect as much.
Re Primary Arms, I'd love to get one but heck - where? The thing is always out of order. Lots of 1 - 4X out there for about $350.00 or so, not much to choose from for 1 - 6X. I've never been a fan of big scopes on rifles like the AR carbine, FAL, HK91 and such. I think a compact, straight tubed scope looks best. But I'd still like to get as much magnification as possible.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

No, it's not always out of stock. Just keep up with the PA threads, they aren't hard to find since people seem to think PA is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
And no, that canine latrine scope doesn't flare out at all. You can see that the scope tube is straight without an objective bell. The objective lens diameter can't be the same as the tube diameter, because the objective lens has to fit inside the tube. But since that scope tube is 35mm... you're going to end up paying a lot more for a mount(way more than you should for a crap airsoft optic).
For example, a lot of 1-4x24 scopes have a 24mm objective lens, with a 30mm scope tube.Comment

Looks a lot like the Vector Optics "Apophis" scope. I did a review of the Vector here:
Cliff notes version: Great concept, but poor execution. Scope is basically junk due to an oversized BDC reticle and poor optical design.U.S. Navy (Retired) 1994-2015Comment
