    Elcan SpecterDR 7.62 BDC info

Does anyone know what the ballistics the 7.62mm reticle is calibrated to?

Anyone in the Pasadena area with a 1-6x 7.62 DR that has an opinion and be willing to let me check out? I'm interested in one but there's no shop out here that has one to play with. I'm not bout to gamble with $3k.

    Thanks!

It's based on the standard 7.62 NATO round.

    Here's more info http://www.elcansightingsystems.com/...terDR1.5x6.pdf

There is a phone contact at the bottom of the PDF if you have any more questions.

I have the 1 x 4 with the BDC reticule for 5.56. I absolutely love it. I've also talked to their customer service before. I have nothing but good to say about them.

If you do buy one, it's money well spent.

      Thanks for the follow up.

I was just wondering whats the "standard" NATO round. So I emailed elcan. My confusion was that I was thinking of which kind of ammunition and then realized that's our military's ammunition. And then elcan confirmed that its the 147gr load. So it'd be closest to our M80 round.

Then he said that the 1.5-6x bdc has the holdovers "blended" for 147gr and 168gr....that's rather interesting. Id like to hear bout people's experiences with this.

I love the idea of this DR optic. The thing is its a damn good battle optic, however 3k can buy some real serious glass....the decision of wanting minute of human or absolute precision is the dilemma.

I've seen the higher models for about $2,300 ~ $2,500 but not 3K. Where are you looking at?

By the way, I sent you a PM.

I have the 1x to 4x for the 7.62 and it is an awesome scope. I put it on my FAL and the only drawback is the weight. For bench rest it is fine, but would be too heavy to lug all day in a carbine class.

I have used them with the 147gr to the 168gr at 550yds I had about a 9" group, not bad in my opinion for a none precision rifle.

If we can be of help let me know.
