i have a yhm 9394 front sight i would like to take apart, if possible, to paint. has anyone done this, or know if its possible by any chance. if so advice would be greatly appreciated

It comes apart pretty easily. The pivot pin is kind of a pain to drive out, so make sure the sight is well supported in a vise with padding to prevent damaging the surface. Once the pin is out, the front sight will come out. The locking pin and spring will try to shoot out, be sure to have your thumb over them when you pull the sight. There will be a small leaf spring under the base of the sight, be sure to note it's position prior to removal. The sight post and detent remove just like a standard A-2 sight. Same deal with the spring there too, be sure to have them contained when removing to prevent them from flying across the room.U.S. Navy (Retired) 1994-2015
