    PA QD Mount

    Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before, I have tried the search function and didn't find as much info on the mount itself.

I am looking to buy the Primary Arms Micro Dot for my a build I am doing for my GF's birthday. I am trying to figure out if I should go with the PA QD Mount or the AD Mount. I know most people have gone with the AD mount, but I am kind of hesitant to spend the extra $$ if the QD mount is GTG since she's already getting an AR with all the parts she wants and accessories(she doesn't know about it so I can't ask her what mount). She may take it on and off every now and then. So what I am wondering if the issues of the QD mount not being so QD or stripped are fixed with the Gen 2 mount. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

You will be happy you bought the AD mount. With the PA bundled discount, it isn't that much more, I'd imagine.

Thanks for the advice. It's $40 more for the AD mount. It probably is worth it to just avoid any possible problems

I'm looking to get the American defense mount, it's made here in the US with quality materials.

I'm just waiting on PA's new red dot

PA is coming out with a new dot? Are you talking about this one?

my PA micro and PA qd mount work fine, but they are relegated to 22lr duty. i havent used them yet on a 5.56, so i cant vouch for reliability there. for the real AR's, aimpoint + ADM work very, very well.

If (1) you're on a tight budget and 2) you won't be taking off and remounting the Optic a lot, the PA QD mount will work just fine.

With that said, the AD is a good deal for the extra $40 (at time of purchase) because (1) it's higher quality, more reliable, durable; (2) holds its value, easier to sell in case you need to and (3) looks nicer.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I've definitely been on the edge about this one. Budget is a little tight on this build, and I'm definitely pushing it on price as is. At this point, $109 is a lot easier to swallow than $149. But I'd hate to kick myself later for passing up the better mount. Maybe I'll wait until the 4th and see if they have a special deal going on. If it's on sale, I may just bite the bullet and buy the AD Mount.

I probably sound like a cheap ***, but I'm still a graduate student, and they barely pay us as is. lol. my GF makes 4 times as much as me.

Thanks for the advice. I was going to buy it either today with the AD Mount since I'm giving it to my GF Monday. Woke up this morning and it was on sale. Bought it immediately

I just ordered one with their standard thumb screw mount (they're on sale! http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=953586). The last one I owned the QD base kept coming loose and nearly fell off my gun!

I figure that if it's for a plinker and I'm not taking it off the gun, then there's nothing wrong with a good ole' screw mount.
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

That's what I was worried about! I ponied up the extra money and got the AD Mount. Couldn't be happier. Very solid lockup and didn't want the GF to have to deal with a mount that was no good
