    AR10, ACOG or something else?

Planning on shooting around 1000ft, so some zoom would be nice. Eye sight is fine so don't need to compensate for that...at least not yet.

My battle rifles get ACOGs and target rifles get proper scopes.

Primary Arms offers a great selection of Anti Reflective Devices. Perfect for any scope setup on AR15, AK47, AR10, and higher caliber rifles.

Well, they do make 308 ACOGs with 6x, but I have no idea how anyone can shoot 1000yrds with only 6X. I know I don't have the best eyesight, but some of people around here must have eagle eyes.

Any suggestion on a proper scope? I may pick up an ACOG for my ar15, because I made a noob mistake and got a holographic and am seriously regreting that.

I made the mistake of checking them out, before I noticed the price. Might have to take out a second mortgage lol

The one thing I regretted with my 1911 is trying to save some money rather than get the exact gun I want, and I'm slightly afraid of doing that with optics. So around 300-400 is price range for effective scopes? What if I wanted a higher end one, with up to around $1000 in budget?

Was thinking about an ACOG for that. The MP10 is in jail. I have no idea what to do for that one. Probably longer range shooting, 1000ft+. Soft budget can go up to $1500 for each, though if something is cheaper that would definitely be a plus.

seems as though some clarification could help....

                Dimitri-are these now in stock?

For the MP-10, the Nikon M-308 (got a smokin' deal from Primary Arms) meets many needs (and misses some others), but for about $400 with mount was a great deal.

1000ft is about 300meters. You could even use iron sights.

The 4x are in stock the 1-6x is not and you would need to sign to be notified they will not last more then a day.

                      Soginator,

are you shooting 1000 feet or 1000 yards? That will help steer us to recommendations. As for your budget, you can get a nice optic for $400 and you can get a very nice optic with better features for near $1000.

I just mounted a 4-16x HS-T on a 223 build I completed. I wanted a reacher AR for dogs and have no problem with it at 600 yards on the little guys.

Sorry for the confusion. Using a 4x acog for my ar15, was planning on getting a scope for 1000ft-1500ft for the ar10, with the hopes that if I become better I can hit targets up to 2000ft.

Just a heads up everyone here will be more familiar with yards and meters. With that said your AR15 is able to hit center mass out to 800+take a look at the PrImary Arms ACSS scopes I posted. Also check out the 4-14x ACSS HUD .308/.223

                            ACOG Fan here.

I have a 4x TA31 on my AR15 and a TA11E (.308) on my AR308 Battle rifle. So long as you recognize it for what it is, they are great. They are not TARGET scopes. They are Body MOA / quick heads up scopes for relatively accurate shot making that "get's the job done"....all the way out to 800 meters. In that sense, there's not much better out there: Great glass, fairly light, no batteries, rugged, etc. Elcan is another brand that competes with Trijicon in this department.

If you're looking for precision, the ACOG is the wrong choice. Go with a standard scope.

I have a review up on my website of a comparison of the 3 most popular ACOG models if you're trying to decide which one to get....

OP, let's convert everything to yards…I don't know anybody who states their rifle shooting distances in FT.
With that being said, What are your accuracy expectations with this rifle? It matters in order to make a recommendation.
