    UPS Destroyed My Zeiss scope!!!!

    So pissed right now!!

I ordered one of the Zeiss 3-9x42 scopes that were on sale from midway, and the box showed up looking like the driver ran over the box. Box was torn open, the hard plastic scope box was shattered and the scope tube was dented, and gouged.

To make matters worse, since UPS just gave the box to the post office for final delivery, they're not letting me refuse the shipment!

I don't know what Midway is going to say. It's not really their fault but this is ridiculous!!!

If you paid with cc have them take care of it. Take photos of everything.

Well, typically the shipper has to deal with the insurance claim (I think receiver can start the claim though), so they're involved either way.

I'm sure midway will be willing to help you deal with UPS.

Just call midway in the morning and be prepared to send them some pictures. It won't be the first time they've ever had to deal with shipping companies breaking stuff.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Midway will take care of it. That's pretty rough handling though!
It looks like someone tore the box open, and one of the reasons I don't like midway shipping in boxes with their name all over it. Too easy to assume it is a very expensive item.

Because the USPS put a sticker on the box that said "received in damaged condition".

Plus, they only had to move it (literally) 800 yards. The post office they dropped it off at is right around the corner from my house. Hard to cause that much damage in that little time.

I have had problems with this two shipper set up. Never a issue with single party shipper. I'd rather pay extra for one. USPS or UPS.

there's your proof right there. good thing USPS stuck the sticker on the box.

It seems to be poorly packed. I just received several boxes from PSA and I was impressed at how they packed a box inside a box. Double taped and took some time with a box cutter just to get the inside box out. I can't see why something valuable and fragile would be behind a single thickness of thin cardboard and some plastic bubbles. Dumb.

I actually received an empty box that was supposed to have my new AR barrel in it.

It only took a second for someone to tear the single layer of cardboard and slip the barrel out....

Sure, they replaced the barrel. But it took time.

What I do now is write this in the comments section when placing an online order:

"Please double wrap my packages to prevent damage and theft"

                      Works well now.

OP-I ordered two scopes from Midway last week and they shipped to different addresses--on purpose. One was delivered UPS to USPS to home. The other was delivered UPS directly to a business. (no USPS)

Both boxes were partially opened and both looked like someone smashed them. I asked the guy who signed for my shipment at my business about this and he said the tape used by MidwayUSA is lousy. Seems to come off on its own. Your situation could be different but I would actually start with MidwayUSA. If their shipping dept is not packing these well then I suppose they could get hung up on various sorting machines. It's possible anyway. Luckily for me, the internal scope boxes were not damaged. Sorry for hassles. Not fun.

USPS just ripped off my Maui Jim's that the factory repaired. Postal carrier, who I trust said they never received the package to deliver. Tracking shows it as delivered on a day the carrier handed me my mail, so they weren't stolen out of my mailbox. Luckily MJ's is replacing for free. Good guys.

How about the possibility of "anti gunners" working at shipping companies and see a firearms related package pass through and take it upon themselves to rough up the package a little. Possible???

Midway should take care of it. I have had this happen twice, and both times the shipper handled the insurance claim.
