Hey guys I want to get a long eye relief scope but I want your input. It needs to be first of all reliable and hold zero. I would also like it to be relatively cheap (under 200) and I'd also like it to not be too cheap (like 50 dollar NCstar scopes and such.) I'd like your input, how about those Hi-lux ones for around 150, are they ok quality? also how about the Bushnell banners that sell for about 80.00? One more thing, needs to hold up when firing a round comparable to a .308 in power.

Long eye relief scopes?

We need more info. Do you want fixed or variable magnification? What rifle, in which caliber, and what mount do you plan to use it on? What is the intended use of the rifle? -
check Vortex and Nikon specs for eye relief. I have bought both brands because their eye relief is more generous than most across their product lines. Also all the things you would like your scope to have are hard to come by in a sub $200 scope, and still have it durable."I don't work for you!" - Joe Biden

It's going on a 7.62x54 mosin. I know the general consensus is buy a better rifle, but i plan to make something unique. I removed the rear site and added a good quality American made mount for a 1" scope. Just trying to find the right deal for the scope though. Please don't recommend a better rifle or NCstar optics though...just letting you guys know. I'm good with fixed or variable. I'm giving a serious thought to a Weaver Classic K series 4x28 thoughComment

Thanks for the details. I was imagining a scout rifle, such as an m1a scout. So you want something roughly in the 4 power range? Immediately, I am thinking of a shotgun scope. Going to sleep soon and will do more research tomorrow.Comment

I would take a good look at this scope:
Simmons makes a 1.5-5 power shotgun scope that has good reviews for $90.
On my phone, so I can't post link.Comment

Check out Weaver's 4x scout scope too. I don't own one, but it's well-reviewed (I've been doing some homework in anticipation of scoping a Ruger Gunsite Scout). I'll post a link in a bit.
ETA: Product page is here.

I ended up going with the Simmons prohunter 4x. Found one for $55 shipped on ebay used. The general consensus in the reviews I found online is they are an excellent low cost scope. I have boresighted it at home and mounted it on my rifle, haven't got a chance to try it out yet.Comment
