    POWER RING IS DARN STIFF...

i just installed my first scope on my rem700. i'm using a leupold vx-II 3-9x40 with dual dovetails. i noticed that the leupold scope power ring was very hard to turn out of the box- meaning, i can turn it using alot of force, but there's no way i could ever lift enough weights to be able to adjust the power setting with one hand on the rifle while looking through the scope at a target. is this normal? by the way, its still tight now that its mounted and i turned the power ring about 50 times just to see if it would loosen up. thanks for any input!

Remove the screw holding the ring to the scope and lube the O rings with some light grease.

I did that to my scopes and on my 3 gun rifle I had www.davesmetalworks.com make me a cat tail/speedring that fits around the adjustment knob and has a larger knob to give me more leverage to turn it.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

leupold specifically says that you should not remove that hex screw that holds the power ring in place. this screw is somehow responsible for keeping in the nitrogen gas that keeps the scope fog-free inside and properly working... hmmm.....
