Looking for a good AK red dot mount

I have an AK style rifle that I am going to use for tac. rifle matches on the way. I am looking for a good quality scope mount that will work for an Aim Point red dot. I am seeing lots of stuff online but have no idea if it is decent quality. What are you guys using?? Thanks, Sammy

Does your AK have a scope rail mounted to the side of the receiver?
If so, this is an excellent quality AK mount:

It will also put the scope directly over the bore.

Even a low-pro side-mount will wind up kind of high. And that's if his AK is coming with a side-plate for that mount.

And it might not end up with the optic centered over the bore, either.

Having gone through the "how to mount optics on my AK" thing, I'd recommend nothing but an Ultimak. It's the way to go, trust me.

So the Ultimak just replaces the top portion of the handgaurd? Would I need to modify anything or is it drop-in? Thanks, Sammy

The UTG quad rail system is very good. It depends on what AK you have because it doesn't fit all AK 47 rifles. UTG has a new QR system out that fits larger diameter bbl AKs like the Mak90.

I have the BP-02 mount that comes from Belarus. I ordered it from this outfit:
http://www.goodoptics.com/good/28. It took about a month to get, but it works quite well with the Simmons red dot I have on it, mounted on my converted Saiga. That said, product support seems to boil down to emails from someone named Natalia whose English is less than perfect. The best I was able to get from her was that the item was in stock. Good luck.
Since we're all in the same boat, let's stay in the boat!

Whoops, I missed this question the first time around.

The Ultimak replaces the whole gas tube.
