So, was confirming level on a scope tonight, and realized that I didn't have any convenient way to set up a plumb line where it would need to be. Then I realized as I was sighting through the scope that the whole wall I was looking at was covered in peg board (for hanging tools off of). A quick check of the bubble level, and sure enough, the peg board was completely level. The peg board holes made a perfect grid...
That particular scope has nice thin crosshairs that go to edge of the scope, so it was easy to confirm that it was level (it wasn't, so I had to adjust it).
If I had a standoff on the peg board, I could have hung the plumb line off that, but didn't have anything long enough.
Just thought I would share, and see if anyone else has ever used an improvised plumb line/level for scope mounting.
