Hello, this is the first posting I make to the forum so, do not hesitate to tell me if I'm doing something wrong.

This Monday, I and my friend went to the range and shot like 60 rounds?
And my friend mentioned that EOTECH 512 is hard to aim because the reticle is keep moving around. Anyone experienced that?
Maybe for him, he needs to use just ironsight?

It moves around because its holographic. It's intended to keep you on target and provide rapid target acquisition in CQB situations. In other words, it's performing as intended.

If he wants something thats more precise, he should consider a 4x optic or, yes, ironsights.

Red dot sights excel in cqb and fast target acquisition. The reticule is "shifting" because you are moving your head, but the purpose is wherever the dot is pointing is where the bullet will go. This is nice because you don't have to have perfect cheek weld, perfect form/stance/grip, etc. since they are very forgiving. (Edit: I mean this in relation to using a scope or iron sights, where accuracy is greatly determined by the repeatability of your form and practicing good shooting basics.)

RDS serves same purpose as iron sights, 0 - 200yards is very easy with a 50 yard zero, and you can shoot further with hold over.

Also, with a RDS you focus on the target, not the reticule, and with iron sights you focus on front sight and not the target.

I guess it depend on how you define CQC.

I have a 512 on my AR and don't have any problems using it at 200 yards...but then I'm not shooting at 2" squares at that range either.

What is nice about the EOTech, over iron sights, is that the reticule doesn't have to be centered in the window to shoot accurately
