Scope reccomendations for sporterized 91/30?

I'm installing a monte carlo stock, bipod, scope mount & bent bolt handle on my 91/30.

I need help choosing a scope. I've never bought one. This will be my first scoped rifle.

I want the magnification to match the effective range of the 91/30. Unfortunately, I don't know what that magnification would be.

I also want to be sure the scope won't destroy itself under the recoil.

Obviously, I don't really want to mount a $2000 scope on a $89 rifle. (Well, maybe I do.. but I can't afford that anyway...)
I'm looking for something under $200, but preferably in the $80-$150 range.

I've been going through catalog after catalog and I'm completely lost. Any help would be appreciated!!

It's not easy finding a decent scope that will hold up to old-school battle rifle recoil for under $150. A Weaver V3 is probably the best bet around $150, and Burris FFII starts just a bit above that.

Assuming you want a magnified scope, there are a few good options under $200.

Leupold Rifleman
Used Leupold VX-1
Nikon Buckmaster
Weaver V-series
Bushnell 3200

Marginal, but some people like them:
Mueller
Millett

Avoid bottom-feeder stuff like BSA, low-end Bushnell, Barska, NCStar, Leapers, Tasco, ATN, and Simmons.
