Free Float Hand Guard Advice AR15

So guys my B Day is Saturday Hitting the big 30 and my girl asked what i want for my b day, So i was planning on upgrading the hand guard on my Newly squired AR15 that i just got about a month back, i already swapped out the hand guard with a drop in quad rail. But i have been wanting to do a free float mid length or riffle length. I kind of like the 11 inch ones best. Im looking for something where i can have the option for full on rails if i wanted to. But i do have a forward grip that i want about half way up so the ones with just the top rail and front lower rail wont work for me. But at the same time i do want something a bit longer than my gas block to extend the sights. So i was thinking of going full YKH with low profile gas block and end cap.

Can you guys post some pics of your set up with mid length and riffle length free float rail If you don't mind ?? Also a gap free install would be great lol.

Save yer $ and check out the UTG superslim models. They fit over the standard upper reciever like a glove creating a smooth uniform finish. By April the 15" and cerakote models will be out.

Or, if you want to spend more $, check out the new BCM alloy keymod rails, super light and thin.

The rifle on the bottom uses the rifle length UTG Pro Free Float quad rail (MTU006). These typically go for less than $100, and are extremely high quality. I've replaced several more expensive Troy rails with these over the last few years. The side to side width on these is pretty narrow, about the same as the Daniel Defense rails, so even with rail covers they don't get the "Tuna Can" ergonomics that many quad rails do with covers. At this price point, there is also little or no remorse involved when chucking it into a milling machine and modifying it to suit your own needs

It comes with 3 2.5 rail sections, but you can purchase more and add them if you like.

Big fan of the Daniel Defense RIS II series. They have a different shape than their other models. A little flatter along the bottom, so it's much easier to get your hand around it.


In my opinion, the LaRue rails are still amongst the best available. They are small and compact, but you have get over the gap thing.

I have a 15 inch mi ss gen 2. But for around the same price the Samson rails fit over the stock barrel nut and that makes for a much easier install.
